As part of the City’s ongoing Capital Improvement Projects, the City has contracted with FS Contractors to perform the South Garfield Village Street Improvements. Work began on November 6, 2017 and will continue through February 2018. During construction residents may experience lane closures and delays.

The project involves the construction of new median islands, mid-block, cross-walk and pedestrian signals, including new landscaping and irrigation along Garfield Avenue from Riggin Street south to Pomona Boulevard.

Beginning on January 16, 2018, and continuing through February 15, 2018, construction staging will take place resulting in the loss of a car pool parking stall in the City Hall parking lot. The project involves battery storage construction and the work is performed by Green Charge, the City's contractor.
Metropolitan Water District - Dewatering
Metropolitan Water District will be dewatering a 72" main line in the vicinity of Orange Avenue and Ackley Street (near Garvey Reservoir) beginning at 11:00 p.m. Sunday February 11 through February 12, 2018. Localized traffic control will be in place for a temporary flow of water into the street and nearby drain and catch basin.
Sewer System CIPP Relining and Spot Repairs
As part of the City's Capital Improvement projects, the City has contracted with Vasilj, Inc., to perform sewer relining at 35 locations and spot repairs of damaged sewer pipe at 41 locations throughout the City. The spot repair work will involve excavation of the street to replace the damaged sewer pipe. The work will be focused in the area generally bound by Atlantic Boulevard, Graves Avenue, Fulton Avenue and Pomona Boulevard. Temporary parking restrictions will be in place. Staff anticipates work to be completed by the end of March 2018.
