About the Department
The Public Works Department is responsible for providing and maintaining the City's infrastructure in a manner that ensures the health, safety, and welfare of the City's residents and visitors. This includes the planning, design, construction, repair and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment, and operations of public land in the following areas:
- Sewers and storm drains
- Public buildings and structures
- Water production
- Storage and delivery facilities
The Public Works Department consists of the following divisions:
- Community Transportation
- Street Maintenance Services
- Water Utility

Title VI - Anti-Discrimination Policy
The Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ("Title VI") prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs that receive federal funding. The City Council approved the Title VI Program in 2013 and the Program Update in October 2019.

Title VI Complaints
Any person who believes that he or she has been discriminated against on the basis of race, color, and national origin may file a Title VI complaint with the City of Monterey Park. The complaint must be filed within 180 days of the date of the alleged discrimination. The City may allow the reasonable modification of our policies to accommodate the special needs of persons with disabilities in order to allow them to fully utilize our transportation services.
