Public Works

About the Department
The Public Works Department is responsible for providing and maintaining the City's infrastructure in a manner that ensures the health, safety, and welfare of the City's residents and visitors. This includes the planning, design, construction, repair and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment, and operations of public land in the following areas:
- Parks
- Roadways
- Sidewalks
- Sewers and storm drains
- Public buildings and structures
- Water production
- Storage and delivery facilities

ADA Policy
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"), the City of Monterey Park will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities. View more information.
Title VI - Anti-Discrimination Policy
The Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ("Title VI") prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs that receive federal funding. The City Council approved the Title VI Program in 2013 and the Program Update in October 2019.

Title VI Complaints
Any person who believes that he or she has been discriminated against on the basis of race, color, and national origin may file a Title VI complaint with the City of Monterey Park. The complaint must be filed within 180 days of the date of the alleged discrimination. To file a formal complaint, please view the Complaint Procedure and Forms below, which are available in three different languages: English (PDF), Spanish (PDF), and Chinese (PDF).

Reasonable Modification
The City may allow the reasonable modification of our policies to accommodate the special needs of persons with disabilities in order to allow them to fully utilize our transportation services. Whenever possible a request for a reasonable modification or accommodation shall be filed in advance to the Department of Public Works by emailing Public Works, by telephone at 626-307-1320, or by mail at 320 W. Newmark Avenue, Monterey Park, CA, 91754.
