The Recreation and Community Services Department is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and delivery of recreational and leisure time activities. The programs are to promote the well-being and enjoyment of life for the city’s residents through the fulfillment of their recreational, cultural, social, and educational needs.

In addition to the recreational activities, the department operates the city’s Dial-A-Ride service, Volunteer Programs, Cable TV (MPK-TV), and coordinates the monthly publication of the Cascades newspaper.

Mission

The Monterey Park Recreation and Community Services Department enriches lives and fosters harmony within the community through citywide programs and special events.

We believe the quality of life is improved through healthy lifestyles, educational and recreational opportunities, public participation, respect, compassion, and enhancement of our urban forest.

We accomplish this through community outreach, quality programming, activities and events, safe, and well-maintained parks and facilities, and an aesthetically pleasing environment that is provided by professional and caring employees, contractors, and volunteers.
