Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Clinic

Individuals or families whose income is less than $60,000 are invited to participate in Chinatown Service Center’s free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Clinic from February 2 to April 6. This program helps U.S. residents or legal Green Card holders prepare their 2022 federal and state income tax returns. For more information about registration, call Adult Services or visit the Library website. Services are by appointment only.

 Lunar New Year Firecrackers Adult Grab and Go Craft Kit 

January 24-27, with crafting session on January 27 at 2 p.m.

Adults are invited to make Lunar New Year firecrackers. Kits will be available for pick-up through Contactless Checkout starting Tuesday, January 24. To request a kit, call Adult Services. Also, join staff in the Library’s Friends Room on Friday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. to craft and chat.

Free Legal Assistance Clinic 

January 28, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friends Room

Volunteer attorneys will be on hand to answer legal questions at the free legal assistance clinic sponsored by the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) and the Asian Pacific American Women Lawyers Alliance (APAWLA). Attorneys will answer questions about immigration, criminal law, civil matters, estate planning, government benefits, labor and employment at the legal clinics. Registration is required. Basic Computer Class in Mandarin

Saturday, February 4,11 and 25, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Computer Lab

This series offers beginning instruction in Mandarin for first-time computer users such as basic computer operation, learning how to use a computer keyboard, operating a computer mouse, and basic instruction on Windows 10. Classes are free to the public. To register for these classes, call or visit Adult Services. 

Tech Hour

Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in the Computer Lab 

Tech Hour is designed to offer reinforcement and practice time for beginning computer users. A library staff member will be present to answer questions. Seating is limited to a first-come, first-served basis. 

Oscar Movie Madness 

Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in the Friends Room

Stop by the Library to watch this year's Academy Award-nominated films every Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Friends Room! For title information, call Adult Services. 

Get Fit While You Sit

February 3 and 17 at 10 a.m. in the Friends Room (Intermediate Level)

February 10 and 24 at 10 a.m. at Langley Senior Center (Beginning Level)

Led by Library staff, Beginning Level students will practice poses to learn how to gain flexibility, improve posture and boost memory, concentration and focus with simple brain exercises while Intermediate Level students will perform stretches and simple exercises to maintain flexibility and posture. Open Mic Karaoke

Wednesday, February 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Friends Room

Have an Achy Breaky Heart? Are you wondering if this is real life or just fantasy? Join Library staff to sing it out at Open Mic Karaoke! Singers will be first come, first served.

Heart Wreath Adult Grab and Go Craft

February 21-25, Crafting session February 25 at 2 p.m. in the Friends Room

Adults are invited to make a heart wreath with library staff. Kits will be available for pick-up starting Tuesday, February 21. Please call Adult Services for kit availability. Also, join staff in the Friends Room on Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m. to craft and chat.
