A long-time resident and homeowner in the City of Monterey Park, Maychelle has championed the City as a Community Activist, shedding light on unfair practices, challenging unethical actions, and demanding accountability.
A Public Servant for more than 20 years in local government and law enforcement, she has served as a Council Aide to two former Los Angeles City Council Members. She worked with residents and businesses to address neighborhood concerns to improve the quality of life in LA’s community organizations to provide much-needed services.
She has served as a Public Relations Specialist with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), working with the community and media to deliver vital public safety information.
Currently, Maychelle serves as a Senior Utility Services Specialist within the Efficiency Solutions Division of LADWP’s Office of Sustainability. She is responsible for developing and overseeing millions of dollars in commercial incentive programs and partnerships. Maychelle is also in charge of supporting LA's business community, helping combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, creating green jobs, and advocating for environmental justice through equity programs to ensure access for all.
She is also a Brightwood Elementary and Mark Keppel High School Parent and PTA Member.
