Wildfire Resources
Los Angeles Fires Help and Info from CA.gov
The State of California has released an updated, centralized website to simplify access to resources for victims of the Eaton and Palisades fires. The one-stop-shop site, www.ca.gov/lafires, provides information on how to apply for FEMA disaster relief, file insurance claims, replace documents, and return home safely. It also offers assistance with accessing food, expense reimbursements and shelter, and provides real-time updates via fire maps, air quality information and road closure maps. Volunteers and business owners can also find necessary information for recovery efforts.
LA County Health Officer Issues Order Prohibiting Use of Power Air Blowers, Including Leaf Blowers
To help protect the health and well-being of residents, the use of power air blowers, including leaf blowers, is prohibited until further notice. These devices stir up ash and particulate matter into the air, further worsening air quality and increasing health risks for everyone and their pets, particularly for those with respiratory conditions, older adults, children, and other vulnerable populations.
The order applies to all areas of Los Angeles County due to the widespread presence of ash and particulate matter in the air throughout the entire region.
Monterey Park Water Is Safe to Drink
City of Monterey Park tap water is safe to drink. News reports regarding the need to boil or restrict water usage due to the recent fires do not apply to Monterey Park customers.
