The Business Improvement District Advisory Committee (BIDAC’s) primary responsibility is making recommendations to the City Council on the expenditure of BID funds and the operation of the Business Improvement District, which exists to enhance and promote the District area through activities like the Lunar Festival, identification signage, sidewalk, and right-of-way cleaning as well as public improvement and promotional activities. The Business Improvement District (BID) encompasses the central Downtown area extending from Garvey Avenue from Ramona Avenue to Nicholson Avenue, and on Garfield Avenue from south of Newmark Avenue to Emerson Avenue. The annual membership-at-large meeting is to be held in October. The committee consists of 5 seats.

The Monterey Park City Council meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. The meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings are held to discuss and take actions on issues regarding the City of Monterey Park.

Beginning Computer Classes in Mandarin are scheduled on Wednesday mornings, February 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10:30 am -11:30 am in the computer lab located on the 2nd floor. Space is limited and registration is required for the free classes. Adults will practice mouse, keyboard drills and internet searching skills. The Library offers free homework assistance to elementary school children during the academic year. Students may bring in assignments and receive help from high school volunteers. No registration is required, but parents must remain with their children - this is not a drop off program.

Family Storytime is for all ages. Featured stories vary in length, some encourage active listening while others invite participation. We incorporate some of our favorite songs or rhymes and a circle dance at the end of each program. Parents / caregivers must attend and are expected to participate and model good listening skills for their children.
