MPK News Release-COVID-19 Emergency Rental Small Business and Utility Assistance Program Application

COVID-19 Emergency Rental, Small Business, and Utility Assistance Program Application Period to Open June 8, 2020

Monterey Park residents and small business owners who have been economically impacted by COVID-19 are invited to apply for the City’s COVID-19 Emergency Rental, Small Business, and Utility Assistance Programs starting Monday, June 8, 2020. These programs are provided by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES), Community Block Development Grant (CDBG), and Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

2020 COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program
Monterey Park residents may be eligible to receive emergency rental assistance under the City’s HOME Program. Residents must meet specific criteria outlined by federal guidelines.

2020 COVID-19 Small Business Assistance Program
Small business stabilization grants are available to Monterey Park small business owners who meet one of HUD’s national objectives.

2020 COVID-19 Utility Assistance Program
Residents may be eligible to receive utility assistance under the City’s CDBG program. Residents must meet specific criteria outlined by federal guidelines.

The application period for the City of Monterey Park’s COVID-19 Emergency Rental, Small Business, and Utility Assistance Programs is Monday, June 8 to Monday, June 22, 2020. Interested residents and small business owners can review the programs guidelines and eligibility requirements and apply online, or download and print a paper application, by visiting https://www.montereypark.ca.gov/1314/COVID-19-Programs

Paper applications must be postmarked by Friday, June 19. 2020. The deadline to submit applications online is Monday, June 22 at 5 p.m. The final day for application questions will be Friday, June 19, 2020, at 5 p.m. For general inquires about the programs, contact Deborah Niblick at dniblick@montereypark.ca.gov or call 626-307-1398.
