Author, Miluka Rivera will talk about her book, Hollywood Latinos Offspring, on Sunday, September 23 at 2 pm in the Friends Room. The book includes the stories and careers of notable Puerto Rican and Latino-American actors and actresses including Anthony Quinn, Rita Moreno, Ricardo Montalban, and other generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched the nation and society with their contributions to film, television and Broadway. The author's books will be available for purchase and signing following her presentation. The program is part of the library’s Hispanic Heritage Month programming. National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15- October 15) celebrates the heritage, culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States. The Library offers free homework assistance to elementary school children during the academic year. Students may bring in assignments and receive help from high school volunteers. No registration is required, but parents must remain with their children - this is not a drop off program.

Children attending must be between the ages of three and five. This program is designed for active toddlers and young children who are able to focus their attention for longer periods of time. The books are short and often invite action and participation. Parents / caregivers must attend and are encouraged to join in the fun.

Family Storytime is for all ages. Featured stories vary in length, some encourage active listening while others invite participation. We incorporate some of our favorite songs or rhymes and a circle dance at the end of each program. Parents / caregivers must attend and are expected to participate and model good listening skills for their children.

Baby & Toddler Storytime is for children under three years of age. Designed for parents and caregivers to attend with their children, Baby & Toddler Storytime includes short books, music, and nursery rhymes. These programs last about 20-25 minutes. Each baby must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Join the Chinese Mid-Autumn festival celebration on Sunday, September 30 at 2 pm in the Friends Room. The Mid-Autumn festival, held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar is a long standing tradition of celebrating family, harvest, good fortune, longevity, and the full moon. The library's program will include a lantern riddles activity with prizes, moon cake, hot tea and other refreshments. Following the activity, a film will be screened. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the
