Monterey Park Spirit Bus resumed services on July 1, 2022 with a modified schedule
Service update: On July 1, 2022, Spirit Bus routes 1 through 4 resumed services Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be no bus service for any routes on Saturday or Sunday. Route 5 will remain suspended.

The City will continue to work with its transit provider First Transit, which operates the Spirit Bus service, to resume normal service levels as soon as possible. Spirit Bus Evaluation
The City is currently conducting a study to evaluate its Spirit Bus system. The study will look at ridership, routes, and other factors to assess the efficiency of the system. As part of this study, the City is conducting a community survey and holding community engagement meetings to understand the community's mobility needs.
The public is encouraged to participate in its community survey to provide input on current transit issues and areas of improvement. The survey is available in:

The City will also be hosting community engagement opportunities to hear from community members. The City encourages the entire community to attend:

- October 20, 2022 at 4:00 - 7:00 pm @ Monster Mash Community Event

City Council recently approved the purchase of Passio Technologies APC System which will include a Customer Facing App for real-time status of Spirit Bus routes. Riders will be able to view the buses' expected arrival times, plan for trips, and check out specific routes. This system is expected to be in place by Fall 2022.
