Heavy rainfall from storms may cause the slopes in our community to be saturated and lend themselves to mudslides. The City of Monterey Park is concerned about your property and your safety. Provided below is some helpful information to prepare for heavy rains especially if your property is located in hillside areas:

Sandbags & Plastic Sheeting

Effective immediately, sand and sandbags are available only at the city yard during its regular business hours.

The City makes sandbags and plastic sheeting supplies available to residents 48 hours before forecasted local storm activity during certain storm conditions. During these events, residents can pick up plastic sheeting and sandbag supplies from the City Yard. The first roll of sheeting will be free and additional rolls are $110 and are only available to hillside residents. However, residents may be asked to estimate their desired dimensions so that enough supplies will be available to those in need.

Sand and sandbags will be free (20 Bag Limit); however, residents will need to fill their own bags. These items are offered to Monterey Park residents only upon presentation of a valid I.D. containing a valid Monterey Park address for pickup of supplies.
