About the Division

The Building and Safety Division is established pursuant to the mandate of California Health and Safety Code to facilitate the city's development in a fashion that offers reasonable protection to lives and properties. This objective is achieved through implementation of the mandatory minimum building standards in the permit and inspection process.

Division Resources

The Building Division serves as a contact point for the permit and inspection process, which involves several other departments and agencies. You may contact those departments for specific matters within their jurisdictions. From our Resource Central you can quickly access forms and other construction resources.

The 2019 California Building Standards Code took effect on January 1, 2020.
