The City of Monterey Park's Recreation and Community Services Department offers a variety of free indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Current activities offered include: Badminton and Pickle Ball at Sierra Vista Park and Open Gym Basketball and Badminton at Barnes Park Gymnasium. Activities are on a first come, first serve basis.

Open badminton play is available for ages 18 and over. The net will be set up and you can bring your own racquets and birdies! Tuesday & Thursday 8:30-11:30am FREE
Pickle Ball (Drop-in Outdoor Play) - Sierra Vista Park 311 Rural Drive.
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. It is a great workout consisting of 2-4 players. Open play is available for ages 18+ and equipment is available onsite or you can bring your own! Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 8:30-11:30am FREE
Open Gym (Basketball & Badminton) - Barnes Park Gym 350 S. McPherrin Ave.
Open basketball drop in play is available for All ages, May - October. If you want to work on your skills, want to get some exercise or just getting back into your sport, come out to Barnes Park gym.

The City of Monterey Park, Recreation and Community Services Department will be offering two free pickleball clinics. Come out and learn the basic fundamentals of Pickleball and strategies for competitive play. Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Recreation staff will be onsite to provide you with the equipment and will teach you the rules of this fun sport. Clinics are open to all ages and minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All participants will be required to sign a waiver.
