Earth Day at the Cherry Blossom Festival

The City of Monterey Park Environmental Commission, in partnership with the City of Monterey Park Green Team, invites all residents to celebrate Earth Day at the Cherry Blossom Festival on April 15, 2023 at Barnes Park, located at 350 S. McPherrin Ave. 

Visit the Earth Day Celebration tent between 11:00am and 2:00pm for activities, resources, information, and giveaways! Then, continue the fun by enjoying the cultural displays, taiko drums, crafts, food, and so much more during the Cherry Blossom festivities available April 15 11:00am to 7:00pm and April 16 11:00am to 5:00pm. 

Earth Day at the Library

Check Out a California State Parks Pass

Through a partnership with California State Parks and the California State Library, free State Parks vehicle day-use passes are available to check out at the Library. These passes check out for seven days and allow free access to over 200 beautiful parks, lakes, beaches, and monuments in the State Parks system. Visit the Library's online catalog to see if a pass is available to check out or to place a hold. 

National Parks Adventure Screening

Tuesday, April 11 at 1 p.m. in the Friends Room

Narrated by Academy Award® winner Robert Redford, National Parks Adventure takes audiences on the ultimate off-trail adventure into the nation's awe-inspiring great outdoors and untamed wilderness. Soar over red rock canyons and hurtle up craggy mountain peaks and into other-worldly realms found within America's most legendary outdoor playgrounds, including Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Yosemite and Arches. This film is not rated and runs 43 minutes. 

Scrap Kitchen Gardening

Saturday, April 29 at 2 p.m. in the Friends Room
Adults are invited to learn how to make the most of their groceries. Staff will show how to use scraps from produce to regrow plants, such as green onions, celery, and lettuce.
