Registration for the Spring semester of ESL classes at the library begins Monday, January 8 at 12:00 PM. The literacy program has every level of ESL classes available to help adult English learners gain reading, writing and speaking skills. All students are pre-tested and assessed to determine their proficiency levels in Basic English skills and to assist in placement of appropriate classes and services. Proper identification with photo and residence verification MUST BE PRESENTED. Space in the classes is limited and Monterey Park residents will be given priority on waiting list.
Citizenship Preparation classes are also available for individuals who plan on becoming new citizens to gain knowledge on American History. Registration for Citizenship classes is open year-round. Enrollment into all ESL and Citizenship Preparation classes, as well as for the one-to-one literacy program is FREE.

January 8, 2018, 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Storytime Room
Family Storytime is for all ages. Featured stories vary in length, some encourage active listening while others invite participation. We incorporate some of our favorite songs or rhymes and a circle dance at the end of each program. Parents / caregivers must attend and are expected to participate and model good listening skills for their children.
