Festivities take place Saturday, July 1 at 4 p.m. with the free fireworks show at 9 p.m.
The City of Monterey Park will celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 1 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Barnes Park. This community event will feature exciting live performances by the Air National Guard Band of the West Coast at 4 p.m. and Kayln & The New Frontier band at 7 p.m. Attendees will enjoy food trucks, activities and entertainment for the entire family. The patriotic, fun-filled day will conclude with the annual free spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Visitors and residents should note that the streets surrounding Barnes Park (McPherrin, Harding and Ramona Avenues) will be closed from 4-11 p.m. to be available for safe and accessible fireworks show viewing.
In the interest of general Independence Day safety, the Monterey Park Fire and Police Departments strongly encourages fireworks safety and reminds celebrants that there are fines for illegal fireworks use in the city. Illegal fireworks will be seized and fines of $2,000-$5,000 issued. Safe and Sane fireworks are only allowed on July 4 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
