[ARCHIVED] Monterey Park Police Announce Arrest of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon Suspect

On January 23, 2022, at approximately 3:50 p.m., the suspect was riding his skateboard in the 800 block of South Atlantic Blvd. The victim was walking on the sidewalk. As the suspect rode past the victim on his skateboard, he hit the victim with an unknown object. The victim fell to the ground hitting her face on the pavement. The victim sustained significant injuries to her face. She was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and released.  

Monterey Park Police officers investigated the incident. Video footage was obtained from a local merchant depicting a portion of the incident. The same merchant contacted the Monterey Park Police Department on January 24 and reported that the suspect was back in the area on his skateboard. The suspect was located, detained, and arrested by police officers.  

The suspect is identified as Tristan Rojas, 24 years old, from Monterey Park.  

Rojas has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. His bail is set at $100,000. He was set to appear in the Alhambra Superior Court on January 26, 2022.
