The Monterey Park Fire Department and Firefighter's Association will be hosting our annual Fire Service Day on Saturday May 18, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station #61 at the corner of McPherrin and Newmark.
Fire Service Day is a free annual event that provides our community a chance to acquaint itself with our firefighters’ daily routine and equipment as well as participate in mini firefighting scenarios.
Continuing the tradition from previous years, the Monterey Park firefighters and the Monterey Park Lions Club have partnered to serve a pancake, egg and sausage breakfast at this event. Breakfast will be served from 8-11 a.m. at Fire Station #61. Tickets for the breakfast may be pre-purchased for $5 from any Lions member or purchased at the door the day of the event. All proceeds will be used to subsidize the Lions Annual Eye Screening Program. The Lions Eye Screening Program supports over 2,000 grammar school children annually, and since its inception, over 60,000 children have been screened at no charge.
Following the breakfast, the East Los Angeles College Veterans Resource Center will be providing a free hot dog lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The location for the hot dog lunch will also be at the fire station.
This is a great event where the community can come out and enjoy a great breakfast and lunch and help contribute to a worthy cause not to mention meet your local firefighters and service veterans.
