[ARCHIVED] Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library Introduces Youth to Computer Game Design Coding Classes

Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library invites youth to participate in the new computer game design coding classes March 7-April 18 and May 2 from 3-5 p.m. in the computer lab. Youth ages 10-18 can sign up at the Reference Desk for the free classes. No experience is necessary. 

Participants will learn game design and programming using Javascript while building computer games. Classes are designed to teach youth new technology skills in fun and creative learning environments that reflect their enjoyment of using computers and online gaming. 

The free classes are part of the library’s Southern California Edison Building 21st Century Skills for Tweens and Teens grant. The grant provides access to technology tools with the goals of promoting education and success for youth. Computer science-related skills like animation, engineering, and problem solving are all skills deemed necessary for 21st century career success.
