Fall session begins September 14 at the library

Are you between the ages of 9-14 and interested in creating video games? If so, this is your invitation to join the CS First Coding Club at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library this fall. No experience is necessary. You’ll design and program your own video games using scratch code. Learn important gaming and computer science (CS) concepts while building racing games, mazes, and other fun.

From September 14 to November 2, the club will meet on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for ages 11-14 and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for ages 9-10 in the library’s computer lab.

The library is offering the CS First Coding Club with the goal of teaching youth skills that reflect their love for computers and online gaming, and to encourage them to pursue careers in computer programming. Computer science-related skills such as animation, engineering, and problem-solving are all skills deemed necessary for 21st career success.

The CS First Coding Club is part of the library’s Southern California Edison “Building 21st Century Skills for Tweens and Teens’” grant. The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library provides access to technology tools with the goal of promoting education and success for everyone in our community.

For more information about the free program, contact the library at 626-307-1368 and/or follow on Twitter @MontereyParkLib.
