Today, the City of Monterey Park and Monterey Park Police Department experienced a tragic loss of one of our employees.
Police Officer Adrian Carrillo, 36, died tragically in a off-duty vehicle collision on the north bound 605 freeway early this morning. Officer Carrillo had been with the Department since December of 2015 and was well liked by both his colleagues and the community. He was highly regarded and respected by those who knew him. His loss has deeply affected the department personnel and he will be missed by all members of the police department and by fellow Monterey Park city employees. We grieve alongside his family and friends.
City Manager Ron Bow and Police Chief Jim Smith on behalf of the Monterey Park City Council, police department employees and all city employees express their condolences to Carrillo’s family and friends.
Any questions regarding the collision or the investigation should be directed to the California Highway Patrol.
