Are you between the ages of 8-14 and interested in creating video games? If so, this is your invitation to join the CS First Coding Club at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library this summer. No experience is necessary. You’ll design and program your own video games using scratch code. Learn important gaming and computer science (CS) concepts while building racing games, mazes, and other fun. Beginning on June 20, the club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the library computer lab.

The library is offering the CS First Coding Club with the goal of teaching youth skills that reflect their love for computers and online gaming, and to encourage them to pursue careers in computer programming. Computer science-related skills such as animation, engineering, and problem-solving are all skills deemed necessary for 21st career success.

The CS First Coding Club is part of the library’s Southern California Edison “Building 21st Century Skills for Tweens and Teens’” grant. The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library provides access to technology tools with the goal of promoting education and success for everyone in our community.
