The City of Monterey Park is announcing that March 7, 2017 marks the date for the Consolidated Municipal and Special Election. The ballot for this election will include a countywide ballot measure and contests for local offices and a local measure.
The Los Angeles County Measure H relates to the Los Angeles County Plan to Prevent and Combat Homelessness. The Monterey Park General Municipal Election includes contests for two council seats, one city clerk seat, one city treasurer seat and Measure LL regarding a library tax.
Polling locations open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Vote by mail ballots can be dropped off at any one of nine polling locations in Monterey Park. For polling location lookup, please contact the City Clerk's office at 626-307-1359.
Since the local race is consolidated with the county, the county will be canvassing the election results. On election night, after polling places close at 8 p.m., ballots from all voting precincts are brought to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's headquarters in Norwalk for tabulation. Spectators are welcomed to observe the ballot counting and auditing process at the headquarters in Norwalk by contacting Jeff Klien at 562-462-2992 or jklein@rrcc.lacounty.gov.
Alternatively, election night results are available on the county's website at LAvote.net. The county’s first press bulletin with initial Vote by Mail ballot results will be issued at approximately 8:15 p.m. Results will be updated on LAvote.net on a flow basis as ballots are received, processed and tabulated. Election night results are semifinal official canvass results and should not be considered final official results. The county will certify the results and make the official results available to cities on April 4.
