Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library will present an exhibit and history program, “Sun Yat-sen’s Lasting Legacy: 150th Anniversary,” on Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m. in the Friends Room. Guest speakers Pedro Chan, Robert CupChoy and Angeline Chu will present talks on the history, contributions and significance of Sun Yat-sen, the father of Modern China in recognition of his 150th birthday anniversary. A question and answer session will follow the panel presentations.

Guest speaker Robert CupChoy is a historian who researched Sun Yat-sen’s birthplace on Maui, Hawaii and on the Kamaole Ranch on Maui where his brother Sun Mei lived. He has participated in a forum on Sun Yat-sen at the University of Hawaii on Oahu.

As part of the program, the public is invited to view two exhibits on Sun Yat-sen in the library. Through December 29, the public can view a 36 panel photo exhibit on Sun Yat-sen from the Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History and the Whampoa Military Academy Memorial. The exhibit was organized by Pedro Chan, Ph.D. and has toured other public libraries. A smaller poster exhibit on the early years of Sun Yat-sen before the 1911 Revolution will be on display in the Friends Room during the featured program on Sunday.
