The City of Monterey Park is inviting older adults to attend a Holiday Senior Social Reception on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the George Elder Park Community Room. The theme of the social event will celebrate the upcoming holiday season with the "Gift of Giving.” In the spirit of the season, Langley Center and the Commission on Aging will be asking for donations from the public in the form of a new unwrapped toy, gift or non-perishable food item which can be distributed to needy families in our community or to select neighboring charitable organizations.
The winter social will begin at 11 a.m. with senior citizens invited in for baked goods and refreshments Seniors will then be encouraged to browse through display tables and meet with Langley Center staff and commissioners at their leisure until 1 p.m.
Display tables will include information about Langley Center services, activities, trips, Dial-A-Ride and social clubs. A running slide show will also display senior center activities, new social media networks as well as the Langley Center Connection website and newsletter.
The December 10 event will be held at George Elder Park, 1950 Wilcox Avenue, Monterey Park, CA 91755, at the corner of Elmgate Street and Wilcox Avenue just east of Garfield Avenue.
