[ARCHIVED] Monterey Park to Hold Senior Social in Honor of National Senior Citizens Day


August 20 activities include recognition of MPK centenarians, senior center program information and the opportunity to interact with center staff and commissioners

On Saturday, August 20, 2016, Monterey Park’s Langley Senior Center, in association with the Greater Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, will host the first in a series of quarterly senior social receptions at the historic Jardin El Encanto.

The August 20 social event is the first of four events designed to reach out to and inform senior citizens from throughout the city about the activities and services provided at Langley Senior Center.

The summer social is schedule in association with National Senior Citizens Day as well as to pay tribute to the city’s 100th birthday celebration by honoring Monterey Park centenarians (soon to be centenarians seniors 90 years and up included) during a ceremony at the beginning of the program. Also included in the event will be a running slide show with current activities; display tables with information about Langley Center services, programs and activities; trips and tours; Dial-a-Ride transportation; social clubs and social media network.

The August summer social at El Encanto will begin at 11 a.m. with senior citizens invited for baked goods and refreshments; the recognition of centenarians at approximately 11:15 a.m.; concluding with an opportunity to browse through display tables and meet with Langley center staff and commissioners at one’s leisure until 1 p.m.
