Audiences will be charmed by a variety of classics composed by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Aaron Copland, Bizet and more at this summer concert series finale
Uplifting classic pops music is coming to Monterey Park with a summer concert in the park on Saturday, August 20 featuring the Arroyo Orchestra and pops music from the centuries. Pops music is a lighter version of classical music that everyone will enjoy. Classical music lovers, young and old, from throughout the San Gabriel Valley are invited to attend another great MPK centennial-related event at picturesque open air Barnes Park Amphitheater.
Dr. Paul Sherman, professor, Glendale Community College, will conduct the 32-piece local orchestra which has been organized by manager Lisa Fowler and includes members of the Arroyo String Quartet, California Philharmonic, LA Opera, Pasadena Symphony and La Mirada Symphony. Many orchestra members possess film and television credits, and one young member is a Monterey Park resident and an acclaimed student at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
The August 20 performance is the third and season finale of MPK’s centennial summer concert series and will be held at the Barnes Park Amphitheater, in the heart of Monterey Park. Moving, inspiring and rousing are just a few words to describe the heights the Arroyo Orchestra will take you.
