Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library will present a travel program featuring Paul Wong on his 61-day trip from West-Tibet Himalayas Base Camp to East of China on Sunday, July 17 at 2 p.m. in the Friends Room.
Travel and adventure are a movable force in Paul Wong’s life. He has logged more than one million footsteps on his 61-day Tibet-China journey and will share the excitement of the trains, buses, airplanes, horses and yaks that helped him to get to the people and places he encountered along the way in small remote villages in the mountains of Quanagzhou to large cities like Shanghai. Mr. Wong will share a highlight of the trip finding his father’s birthplace along with relatives he meets for the first time, all based on family lore told by his father more than 50 years ago. The program includes a slide presentation and is co-sponsored by the Chinese American Citizens Alliance.
