Public Works Week Open House

Thursday, May 19, 2022

In recognition of National Public Works Week, the Public Works Department is excited to celebrate our public works' employees and reopen our gates to cordially invite the public, employees, and volunteers to attend an Open House on Thursday, May 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the City Yard located at 751 S Alhambra Avenue.

The National Public Works Week theme for 2022, “Ready and Resilient” is a reminder that Public Works professionals are always READY to serve their communities and RESILIENT in their abilities to pick themselves up after encountering challenges.

Especially during these times, the "Ready & Resilient" theme highlights the Department and its 4 Divisions; Engineering, Maintenance, Parks and Water, and the ability to perform regular public works duties and be ready as first responders during emergency events and overcome trials seen in the field.

Public Works employees help keep communities strong by providing an infrastructure of services including, water treatment and distribution, maintenance and repair of public buildings, streets, city fleet and green spaces. The Department issues and inspects construction and related permits as well as the management of the City’s Capital Improvement Projects, all to make our communities great places to live and work. To learn more about the department, please join us on May 19th.

The event will include informational and demonstration booths, vendors, lunch, giveaways and the department’s Annual Chili Cook Off! (While supplies last!)

For more information, call the Public Works Department at 626-307-1320.
