Bring a used oil filter and get a new one free
Do you change your own oil in your car or truck? All Monterey Park Do-It-Yourselfers (DIYers) are invited to recycle their used oil and oil filters:
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
Saturday, October 14, 2017
Silver Star Service, 600 W. Garvey Ave.
In exchange for your used oil and filters, you will receive a free oil filter and oil recycling kit while supplies last. Free filters are limited to two per person.
Funded by a grant from the California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), the free filter exchange event will educate Monterey Park residents about responsible used motor oil and filter recycling. Oil poured down the drain or onto the ground can travel down storm drains and contaminate our local waterways. Recycling used motor oil prevents water pollution and conserves a natural resource. Used oil filters are made of steel and can be recycled as well. Drain the filter for 12 hours and seal it in a Ziploc bag before taking it to the recycling center.
