George Elder Park Pool - Holiday Schedule
George Elder Park Pool will be closed for the following holidays:
- Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 25, 2021)
- Christmas Day (Saturday, December 25, 2021)
- New Year's Day (Saturday, January 1, 2021)
Locker Rooms Reopening
Locker rooms at George Elder Park Pool will be reopening in a limited capacity effective Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
- Face masks required indoors
- Limited capacity
- Restrooms & changing permitted
- No showering
- Personal belongings - not to be left indoors

Entry screening will be conducted by staff members before visitors enter the pool area and participate in activities. Screenings will include a temperature and symptom checks for the following: fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing or chills and whether each individual is currently under isolation or quarantine orders. Any visitors with these symptoms or under isolation/quarantine orders may not enter the premises.
At this time, locker rooms remain unavailable for changing and showering. However, restrooms will remain available. Please arrive dressed with your swimming attire underneath your regular clothing.
Face masks must be properly be worn at all times when visitors are not in the water. Pool users must maintain a minimum of 6 feet physical distance from those who are not members of their household.
Lap swimmers must bring their own kickboard, buoys, goggles, and water bottles. Shared pool equipment is prohibited and will not be provided at this time.
Online registration for Swim Lessons coming soon. Morning Lap Swim will not require pre-registration at this time.

The City of Monterey Park will offer limited swim lessons for a wide range of ages and skill levels. Summer Swim Lessons will be held at Barnes Park Pool. In accordance with the learn to swim program, set to American Red Cross standards, swimmer pre-requisites must be met in order to advance to upper-level classes.
For more information about the class level and prerequisites please see the Learn to Swim page. All Parent & Tot, Level I: Water Exploration, and Level II: Primary Skills classes will require a parent to accompany child into the water. All instructors will primarily teach from the deck and/or maintain social distance until restrictions & protocols are eased.
Morning Lap Swim
For the fitness conscious looking for a great low-impact workout, Morning Lap Swim will return with limited capacity and lane availability at Barnes Park Pool. Lap Swim lanes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis with no registration required. Lanes will have no more than 5 people per lane. At this time, locker rooms remain unavailable for changing and showering. However, restrooms will remain available. Please arrive dressed with your swimming attire underneath your regular clothing.
Morning Lap Swim hours are:
Monday - Friday 6:00-8:00 a.m.
Saturday & Sunday 6:00-10:00 a.m.
The City of Monterey Park accepts cash, check, and credit card as forms of payment. Please make checks payable to the City of Monterey Park. Payment is accepted at the pool. All fees will increase July 1st per City Council resolution no.11771.

Summer Recreational Swim
Summer Recreational Swim remains without a timetable for return at this time. As guidance/protocols from LA County Public Health continue to change, the Recreation & Community Services Department will continue to re-evaluate the reopening of this program.
