As part of the City’s ongoing Capital Improvement Projects, the City has contracted with FS Contractors to perform the South Garfield Village Street Improvements. Work began on November 6, 2017 and will continue through February 2018. During construction residents may experience lane closures and delays.

The project involves the construction of new median islands, mid-block, cross-walk and pedestrian signals, including new landscaping and irrigation along Garfield Avenue from Riggin Street south to Pomona Boulevard.

Beginning on December 18th, 2017, maintenance work will begin ay George Elder, Sunnyslopes, La Loma and Pine Tree Parks.
Maintenance work will occur Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm, excluding legal holidays and weekends. Work will be completed within 20 working days, weather permitting.
Work will include cleaning / power washing existing poured in place (PIP) playground surfacing at 4 Parks (Elder, Sunnyslopes, La Loma and Pine Tree Parks) and application of aromatic roll coat material and related improvements to maintain existing playground surfacing.
Yellow caution tape will be installed around the perimeters of the playground on the date of aromatic roll coat application. On such date, playground will not be accessible to public. For your safety, please observe all safety measures and signs/caution tapes near the construction area.
Below is the schedule of application:
La Loma Park Playground: Close to public on 12/20 (Wednesday) for a day during maintenance.
George Elder Park Playground: Closed to public on 12/21 (Thursday) for a day during maintenance.
Sunnyslopes Park Playground: Closed to public on 12/22 (Friday) for a day during maintenance.
Pine Tree Park Playground: Closed to public on 12/27 (Wednesday) for a day during maintenance.
