The Monterey Park Library Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library, will hold its fundraising annual Gala on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Luminarias restaurant, 3500 Ramona Boulevard, Monterey Park.
Despite election results showing 60% of voters in this city supporting the renewal of the library parcel tax, the recent defeat of Measure LL means the loss of revenue to the library starting next year. Your patronage of this fundraiser is therefore even more critical.
Your generosity will enable the library to continue to remain open and offer quality books, magazines, newspapers and other materials to patrons to enjoy, as well as computer Internet access and exciting and diverse programs, speakers and activities for library users of all ages.
The gala affair, which begins with a reception at 6:00 P.M. with dinner scheduled for 7:00 P.M., will feature an elegant dinner, music and dancing and a raffle with exciting prizes. We will be honoring Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees member Mike Eng and the Chinese American Citizens Alliance for their outstanding dedication to and generosity towards the library.
Corporate and individual table sponsorships are as follows: Novel Sponsor: $3,000, Biography Sponsor: $2,000, Thriller Sponsor: $1,000, Picture Book Sponsor: $650. All of these table sponsorships include ten tickets to the Gala and recognition in varying degrees. One can also be a Paperback Sponsor: $250 (two tickets). Individual tickets can be purchased for $100 or $65 each.
Donations are tax deductible. Advertisement opportunities are also available starting from $50 for a business card size ad to $500 for a full-page ad in the gala dinner program. Monterey Park Library Foundation raises funds to supplement the library's budget. The Foundation raised more than $600,000 for the expanded and renovated library which opened September 9, 2006. Over the last two years proceeds from the Foundation has been used to purchase books, magazines, DVDs, e-books and other library materials for the collection. In addition, the Foundation raised funds for the mural over the west entrance of the library.

Donations Accepted
The Foundation accepts donations of any size. Organizations, businesses, and individuals who make large donations can have their name listed on the donor board in the library. For $1,000 donors can list their name, the name of someone who has passed away, their business name or the organization to which they belong. Foundation usually meets in the library on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
