Junior Friends

What is Junior Friends?

Junior Friends is a teen volunteer group at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library. Volunteers assist the Teen Librarian with developing programs and services to reach the teen community. Volunteers also assist staff at Library and City events and have the opportunity to take on a leadership role as a Junior Friends Board Member.

Volunteer Guidelines

To become a member, you must complete the application (PDF). You can also pick up an application at the Reference Desk or at one of the club meetings.

Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month.

Volunteers are in charge of keeping track of their own hours. Volunteers may use hours from Junior Friends-related services for other clubs, but teens are responsible for reporting and monitoring their hours.

Volunteers may be excused from meetings or an event as long as they give the President or the Secretary ample notice.

To remain active in the club, volunteers must complete the following:

  • At least three (3) hours a month
  • Two (2) teen library events per year
  • No more than five (5) unexcused absences from meetings
