Dial-A-Ride
Dial-A-Ride (DAR) is a FREE SHARED transportation service for Monterey Park Senior Residents ages 55 years or older and/or have a signed form from a physician attesting to a disability that travels within city limits, except for medical appointments to adjacent communities within five miles to Alhambra, Montebello, San Gabriel and other unincorporated LA County areas. Information is also available in English, Chinese and Spanish in the Dial-A-Ride brochure.
How Do I Join?
To become a DIAL-A-RIDE member, residents must complete an application and provide proof of residency with photo (drivers license or current ID). Approved applications will have a photo taken to issue a Dial-A-Ride ID Card with a one-time fee of $5.00. Applications are also available at Langley Center.
How Do I Schedule an Appointment:
To your destination:
Call the dispatcher desk at 626-307-1395 or 626-307-1396 and provide your name, address, phone number, time of pick up, and any special accommodations (wheelchair, walker, etc). Medical appointments need to be made at least five days in advance and regular appointments need to be made at least three days in advance. We go by a first come, first serve basis.
Going back home:
Call the dispatcher desk to schedule your return pick up. It will typically take 15 to 30 minutes for your pick up to arrive.
Where can I go?
Dial-A-Ride is a shared ride service that our residents can make ANY trip from their home within the City of Monterey Park and trips to outside communities within 5 miles for medical appointments only. Local trips are tips within the city to eat, shop or visit city hall, library, parks or post office.

Dial-A-Taxi Supplemental Services: The city's Dial-A-Taxi service is also available 24 hours,7 days a week for senior residents. Residents must complete an application and provide proof of residency (State issued ID Card or Utility Bill) and one-time $5.00 registration fee. Due to the COVID-19 emergency declaration, applications will be issued on a need basis to ensure transportation services are met. Metro Tap Card
Metro Tap Cards are sold during regular operating hours Monday - Sunday from 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. To receive the City of Monterey Park discount, you must be a senior resident at least 62 years or older and/or have a Reduced Senior TAP Card and have a valid California driver's license or ID with proof of residency. For Monterey Park residents, the price will be $17 and for non-Monterey Park residents, the price will be $20.
Mature Driver's Improvement Course
This course is offered monthly. Seniors completing the eight hour course will be certified and eligible to get a 5% to 10% reduction on their premiums with participating insurance companies. There will be a $1 non-refundable fee for the class and it will go from 8 AM to 4:30 PM with a lunch break. Classes are held monthly on the second Monday of the month.
